Dr. Gengyuan Liu is Associate Professor and Doctor Tutor of School of Environment, Beijing Normal University. His Research interests cover Urban Ecological Planning and Waste Management, Emergy Analysis, Energy Economics and System Ecology.
He produced over 50 peer-reviewed papers on the journals like: Applied Energy, Science of the Total Environment, Energy Policy, and Ecological Modelling. He was also involved in over 15 research projects and delivered over 10 oral presentations at conferences, workshops, symposiums, or seminars. Dr. Gengyuan participated in the organization of various events such as:
- Secretary for 18th Biennial ISEM Conference on Ecological Modelling for Global Change and Coupled Human and Natural System 2012;
- Secretary for PACE 2013 International Symposium on Environmental Economics and Policy in China & 4th Summer Camp for Chinese Environmental and Resource Economists;

- Secretary for the Emergy Summit of Environmental Accounting and Management 2016.
