Marcelo Reis holds a Ph.D. in Sciences from the University of Sydney (Australia), with a Master's degree in Biodiversity and Conservation in the Tropics and a Specialization in Coastal Ecosystem Biology. He holds a postdoctoral degree in ecological education and the revision of ecological concepts using gamification. He is the coordinator of GIREE – Ecological Risk and Eco-gamification Research Group. Member of the Support Group for Mobilization in the Decade of Ocean Science (UNESCO) in the Northeast Region of Brazil. His research focuses primarily on the following topics: Ecological Modeling, Fisheries, Elasmobranch Biology, Environmental Factors, Ecological Education, Biodiversity, and Conservation. He has extensive experience in metadata analysis across various platforms (R, Excel, Access, Statistics, PAST), geographic information systems (ArcGIS), and experimental design applied to ecology. He is an experienced scientific diver (PADI certification) and has onboard experience, also certified in first aid and safety training. He serves as a full professor at PPGASA Cesmac.
