AmICUS - Advances in Cleaner Production School

Advances in Cleaner Production School (AmICUS)

Post-docs, undergraduate and graduate students of any nationality or scientific background conducting research in Sustainable Production Systems are strongly encouraged to apply to the Advances in Cleaner Production School (AmICUS) at Hermosillo in Sonora, Mexico (August 12 to 14, 2019).

The course is free of charge. All expenses, transportation and maintenance, are borne by the participants. The local organizer can provide a Homestay under demand.

Premise of the International School: Highly productive, profitable production systems can benefit from public policies, technology and environmental sustainability. Current challenges including depleting fuel and resources, freshwater shortages and climate change threaten the global supply of goods and services. Because sustainability invariably deals with living, complex systems, the knowledge on Sustainable Production Systems is interdisciplinary per se and significant conceptual advances will unquestionably occur when specialists from diverse areas are united with the goal of exchanging and creating understanding.

The AmICUS aims to address the issue of sustainability in production systems under conceptual and practical viewpoints. Focus will be given to decision-making tools that can be employed by public institutions and private companies.

The goal of International School AmICUS is to provide opportunities for close interaction among students and leading experts Partner of Advances in Cleaner Production Network conducting cutting edge research in Sustainable Production Systems, as well as to stimulate interdisciplinary discussion about hot topics in Sustainability. To achieve this goal, the school's program was organized around a series of lectures and presentation of research projects by the participating students.

Target Students

One of the main objectives of the school is to attract young students to pursue a scientific career, so we encourage applications from people who are interested in making connections. The 50 spots will be filled by graduate students, but we will also consider applications by outstanding undergraduate students and post-docs/young faculty.

Selection of Participants

Participants will be selected on a comparative basis. Application materials for each candidate will be analyzed by at least three referees, and the final selection will be made jointly by the selection committee. The final list seeks to maximize representation given the pool of applicants.

To register for the International School please fill out the application form.

Please note: the course - that is free of charge - is officially recognized by ACPN (Advances in Cleaner Production Network). At the end of the course ACPN should provide students a “certificate” that states they have completed the course. The certificate contain the ACPN and of the Local Organizer logo and the signature of the President of ACPN and of the Local Organizer.
