Advances in Cleaner Production Network

Advances in Cleaner Production School (AmICUS)

Post-docs, undergraduate and graduate students of any nationality or scientific background conducting research in Sustainable Production Systems are strongly encouraged to apply to the Advances in Cleaner Production School (AmICUS) at Bertioga, São Paulo, Brazil (December, 15th, 2021).

The course is free of charge. All expenses, transportation and maintenance, are borne by the participants. The course will follow all the prevention protocols of COVID-19.

The AmICUS aims to address the issue of sustainability in production and consumption systems under conceptual and practical viewpoints. Focus will be given to decision-making tools that can be employed by public institutions and private companies.

Objective

The goal of International School AmICUS is to provide opportunities for close interaction among students and leading experts Partner of Advances in Cleaner Production Network conductingcutting edge research in Sustainable Production Systems, as well as to stimulate interdisciplinary discussion about hot topics in Sustainability. To achieve this goal, the school's program was organized around a series of lectures and presentation of research projects by the participating students.

About Bertioga

Bertioga City Hall Website

Bertioga is a Brazilian municipality of the state of São Paulo in the Baixada Santista. It is part of the Metropolitan Region of Baixada Santista.

The population is 64.723 (2020 est.) in an area of 490,15 km². Because it neighbors resort towns, its population fluctuates greatly with the seasons. The more northern parts are dense forests and are virtually unpopulated. The municipality was created in May 19, 1991. Prior to that it was a part of Santos.

The municipality contains the 9.312 hectares (23.010 acres) Restinga de Bertioga State Park, created in 2010 to protect an area of mangroves, restinga and dense rainforest. Its limits are Mogi das Cruzes, Biritiba-Mirim and Salesópolis in the north, São Sebastião in the east, Atlantic Ocean to the south with Ilha de Santo Amaro and Santos in the west.

Barco Escola Project

The project seeks to promote knowledge about local ecosystems, developing the feeling of discovery and belonging to the natural, cultural and historical city's heritage.
