The Post Graduation Program in Production Engineering and its evolution

The UNIP's Post Graduation Program in Production Engineering (PPGEP) was recommended in1998 by Coordenação e Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (Capes - Coordination of Perfectioning of Superior Level Staff ) a foundation of the Education Ministry, for a Master Degree Program, and in 2007 for a Doctoral Degree Program. The doctorate creation was a consequence of the experience accumulated since 1997. The Master Degree Program began with the concentration area “Production Planning and Control” with the research line “Operational Systems Management”, to deal with production processes and their management by means of computer science. The evolution of the academic research led to the creation of new concentration areas. In 2003, the concentration area “Production and Environment” with the research line “Cleaner Production and Industrial Ecology”, was created in part because of the importance of the theme, but also because of the professors' competence.

Achievements in CP:

UNIP and the PPGEP are signatory of the International Declaration on Cleaner Production

Since 2005, the Paulista University and the Post Graduation Program in Production Engineering are signatory of the UNEP International Declaration on Cleaner Production, which reinforces the institutional commitment with Cleaner Production and opens possibilities for a joint work with UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme). The consequent interaction with UNEP, keeps the Program up to date with modern international practices to deal with the environment and the sustainability.

Cleaner Energy Generation Patent

It is worthy of attention, by its technological contribution, a patent register that solves the problem of the catalytic recovering of fuel cells. The research activities that resulted in the patent are part of the Academic Treaty between UNIP and Universidad de la República (Uruguay).

Academic research in Production and Environment

A considerable number of students from the Post Graduation Program in Production Engineering got the Master's Degree, developed research concerning Cleaner production and Industrial Ecology. Among the defended thesis, one may distinguish:
