The Paulista Cleaner Production Roundtable is a multi-sector non-profit forum that aims the promotion of Cleaner Production and social/environmental responsibility. Volunteer participants include production sectors, governmental sectors, non-governmental organizations, teaching and research institutes and citizens interested on CP issues.

Its Mission is to contribute for increasing society's satisfaction, through the use of CP's strategies and ways, improving the relations among economic development, public and environmental health.

Its Vision of Future is to transform Cleaner Production in an important instrument for the sustainable production and consumption of goods and services.

CETESB's proposal to create the Paulista Cleaner Production Roundtable was approved in August 31 st , 2001 , when a workgroup was organized to prepare the I Cleaner Production Week in São Paulo.

In July 22nd 2002, in the headquarters of the FIESP/CIESP - Federacy and Center of the Industries of the State of São Paulo - the I Cleaner Production Week was opened with the Roundtable Installation signed by the following authorities: President of the FIESP/CIESP, São Paulo's Secretary of Environment, São Paulo's Secretary of Water and Sanitation, São Paulo's Secretary of Energy, São Paulo's Secretary of Science, Technology, Economic Development and Tourism and São Paulo's Secretary of Agriculture.

Since then, the participant institutions of the Roundtable realized diverse activities, with prominence of:

- Three Weeks of Cleaner Production, in the years of 2002, 2003 and 2005, including national and international conferences on Cleaner Production, seminaries, technical visits, regional events, with participation of about 1,240 people;

- Ceremonies for signing the International Declaration of Cleaner Production of the United Nations Environment Programme - UNEP -, in 2005, with the 95 signatories, and considered by UNEP one of the greatest events already held in the world;

- Twenty training sessions with 824 participants;

- Five technical visits with 90 participants;

- Organization of the “Public-Private Discussion Forum – Southeast region – Support to Environmental Management and CP”, in 2004. Participation of States of Rio de Janeiro, Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais resulted in a document sent to the Ministry of Environment sustaining the organization of a National Policy on Cleaner Production.

- Realization of the “I International Seminar on Cleaner Production: support to the adoption of good practices in small-medium size companies”, in 2006, organized by CIESP-Campinas, with the participation of the Canadian Center of Pollution Prevention (C2P2), the Ontario Centre for Environmental Technology Advancement (Oceta) and the Eco-Efficiency Centre (EEC), from Dalhousie University, Canada.

- Launching of the CDC – P+L, initiative of the ABN Amro Banco Real and CIESP – Campinas , a credit line for cleaner production actions in small-medium size companies. The success of this project led the bank to launch the credit line all over the country.
