Conference Title: Policies, Governance and Innovation Processes for the Water–Energy–Material-Food Nexus in the Mediterranean Area: Insights from a Case Study [abstract]

 

Hugo de Vries is Research Director at INRAE and Professeur Consultant ‘Complex Bioeconomy systems’ à l’Ecole Supérieure Institut Agro, Montpellier, France. Some of his recent activities are Past-President of the European Federation of Food Science and Technology (EFFoST), member of the FAO-led Bioeconomy Working Group, and coordinator of the HorizonEurope Project‘FOODPathS’ (Developing a Prototype European Partnership). He is associated member and international correspondent of the French Academy of Agriculture (AAF). Previously, he was director of the Joint Research Centre IATE (food, biomaterials and bioenergy; INRAE, University of Montpellier, Institut Agro, Cirad), and the Food Research Centre of Wageningen UR. He obtained his PhD at the edge of physics and ecology. In 2025, he received the European Food Science to Society Award.
